Philosophy of Education

As an education specialist, I realize that each student is a unique individual capable of learning.  A free and appropriate public education that meets the needs of every individual is a right that each student should be guaranteed.  As a special educator and advocate, I encourage all students to understand and celebrate the strengths and weaknesses that make each learner special.

All students learn and develop at different rates; therefore, I incorporate many different learning styles within my curriculum.  This growth and development are lifelong; therefore, I will teach my students how to live fulfilling lives. I will teach conceptually through direct instruction for students to gain the most significant amount of learning of specific concepts or skills.  The specificity of the objectives or learning targets I will present to these students will meet each student's learning needs.

I will continue my education to better understand each area of learning and adapt accordingly. I will provide a motivational framework for each learning opportunity.  As a special educator, I help students foster self-control by teaching my students effective strategies to implement when conflicts arise in learning and within themselves.  My goal as an educator is the same as any goal within the education system: to produce productive members of society.

Allowing students and families to take pride and knowledge about their loved ones and provide the next generation with knowledge about their experiences. Being a productive member of society with one’s ideas and goals will help students to live as independently as possible with life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
